The resolution included grave concerns about the dangers of nuclear weapons and calls on North Korea to implement its international commitments and abandon all nuclear and nuclear programs.
It also urged North Korea to return to the NPT as soon as possible and comply with the IAEA's nuclear safety agreement. North Korea completely withdrew from the NPT in 2003 and expelled IAEA inspectors.
Previously, two resolutions were submitted to the U.N. General Assembly, including a joint action resolution containing a new resolution to completely abolish nuclear weapons and a resolution recommending the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. All are urging North Korea to fully denuclearize the North.
